The massive robbery ,in which $50 million ($100 million) was stolen from a security debot in kent , is still in the news. It has been called 'Britain's biggest robbery' and a very high reward of $2 million ( $4 million ) is being offered for anyone who can help the police with their investigation . A BBC Online News headline reads:'2 million for raid information. The Sun newspaper rephrases this formal headline style into more colourfull slang language Associated with the criminal underworld . The Sun headline reads ' 2 million to grass em up'. If a criminal grasses on or grasses up' other criminals, he or she tells the police about their activities . the word 'em' here is short for 'them' The police are confident that the gang who carried out the robbery will be caught . The Guardian therefore, have this headline : ' Net closes in on $50m robbers' . One of the Problems facing the robbers or the had guys is how to get rid of so much money, all of it in $50 notes . A slang expression for getting stolen money into normal circulation is 'to have it laundered'.This illegal activity is called ' money laundering' |
